When I talked to Sarah last year during a trip to LA, she mentioned she was sad she didn’t get photos in her wedding dress on her wedding day. Time went fast, emotions were flying and the bridal portraits didn’t happen. Many brides when looking back at their big day say they missed a few important photos, so that’s not uncommon. When you pick your wedding photographer, make sure to go over the shot list with them prior, to make sure nothing gets forgotten.
Planning Our Adventure
Fast forward to a couple months ago when I was in LA again. I suggested that bride to go on a trip to Yosemite to take epic photos in her wedding dress. She agreed, not fully knowing what she was getting herself into; and I started to research which area of the park would be good for elopement styled photos. We ended up opting for Bridalveil Fall hike – how fitting!
The Day Of
On the morning of our shoot, I asked Sarah if she preferred to hike in her dress or carry it and change on top of the mountain, and she started to laugh. “Wait, I thought we’d just stop on the side of the road in the park to take photos, not actually hike with it!” We had a good laugh about the confusion and ended up rolling the dress carefully in my backpack.
Not gonna lie, the hike was steep! You haven’t lived until you climb up for a few hours while carrying your photo equipment and a wedding dress, I guess 🙂 Finally when the sun went down we found a nice nook with a panorama view of the park and decided it would be our spot. We definitely intrigued some of the other hikers passing by, but it was all worth it! Sarah is a beautiful bride and knew exactly how to pose in Yosemite, play with her dress and create some movement. And I had so much fun playing with that veil!
