Taylor and Tyler’s big day was a Fall wedding in the Hudson Valley for the books. Think sunny weather with a slight crisp air, colors that go from fifty shades of green to patches of yellow and orange, warm hues, warm hugs; and just an overall feeling of coziness and romance.
The bride and groom are both children of military parents. They met at West Point in New York when they were in high school but lost touch after that. Five years ago, they reconnected when Taylor visited her family for the holidays; by then, Tyler had entered the military himself. As they like to say; “We met at West Point, dated at West Point and got engaged at West Point. Now, we’re bringing it full circle by getting married at West Point!”
What touched me at their wedding was the involvement of their respective families. The many embraces of Taylor and her mom, who helped her create the perfect fairy tale wedding she dreamed of since she was a little girl (hmm, hello Disney themed candy table at the reception at the Thayer hotel!). The discreet smiles of Tyler’s dad, looking proudly at his son when he posed for me for bride and groom portraits at Trophy Point (that gorgeous hill top with a view on a lake). The bridal party, both bridesmaids and groomsmen, very attentive to the newlyweds’ needs; and always ready to make them laugh and relax the bride. Capturing these little details and attentions that usually go unnoticed is exactly why I love being a wedding photographer so much 🙂
