I was recommended to Kayla by my own wedding photographer Eliza Jane; which is always a honor as I consider her to be the best. Kayla wanted her engagement photos to be taken at West Point where she and her fiancé Ryan were based at these past two years. They are currently on their way to Georgia to start a new chapter of their lives. Ah, military life!
I hadn’t shot at West Point since last Fall and was really happy to be back. The military base has one of the best views on the Hudson valley; and I was psyched to experience it during summer for once.
We started our session at the most famous spot for West Point engagement pictures called Trophy Point. That breathtaking location gives an impressive panorama view on the Hudson river. It is definitely a couples’ favorite! We then headed to Redoubt Four, a former defensive position of Fort Putnam during the Revolutionary War. This little nook on top of a hill was the perfect place to pop the champagne and celebrate their upcoming union.
We ended by the Lusk Reservoir, and had fun on the bridge overlooking the lake until the sun went down. Old structures always add so much charm in photos. I also like how they give a timeless side to couples who have just decided to spend the rest of their lives together. Ryan and Kayla, may your love last for a hundred years, too!
