Brooklyn weddings just have a special feeling to them: they’re effortlessly cool, warm, have style, and a lot of personality :)
A rooftop ceremony with the Manhattan skyline as your backdrop? Count me in. A candlelit dinner in a cozy restaurant? Yes please. A garden ceremony tucked away from the city, but still right in the middle of NYC? That is Brooklyn magic.
As a Brooklyn wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to venues that match the couple. Not just pretty spaces, but places with texture, energy, and room for real moments to unfold. Brooklyn has all of that. Industrial lofts, botanical gardens, rooftop farms, historic buildings, and intimate neighborhood spots that don’t need to try hard.
If you’re starting your search for the best Brooklyn wedding venues, here are some of my favorite places to get married in the neighborhood.
Best Brooklyn Wedding Venues for Garden Ceremonies, Rooftop Views, and City Energy
1. Wythe Hotel
The Wythe Hotel is a Williamsburg classic. The building has that historic industrial charm Brooklyn does so well, but with a refined, high end hotel-level experience. It has multiple event spaces, from intimate gatherings to larger weddings, and it sits right by the Williamsburg waterfront.
For couples who want epic views, the charm of Williamsburg street and everything in one place — getting ready, ceremony, portraits, reception, after-party — the Wythe is a really strong option. Plus, it has a secret cinema where you can do karaoke!
Photographer’s note: I love the mix here: old brick, beautiful large windows, cool hotel rooms, rooftop or terrace moments, and the streets of Williamsburg right outside. This might be my favorite venue to shoot at these days.
2. Prospect Park Boathouse
The Prospect Park Boathouse is classic NYC romance. Built in 1905, it’s one of those spaces that feels historic, elegant, and peaceful. The building itself is beautiful both outside and inside, and the surrounding park gives you so many options for portraits before or after the ceremony.
This is a great venue if you want something timeless, but not stiff. It feels very New York, but with a softer, greener side.
Photographer’s note: The park is the gift here. Trees, pond, bridges, and quiet little corners that make portraits feel natural. It’s an incredible venue all around.
3. Brooklyn Grange
Brooklyn Grange is one of the most unique Brooklyn wedding venues because it gives you a rooftop farm in the middle of the city. It’s green, open, and totally unexpected (you get in through a supermarket elevator). Their Sunset Park rooftop has waterfront views, farm landscape, indoor event space, and views of the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty.
If you want a wedding that feels relaxed, greenery-oriented, eco-conscious, and visually different from a traditional venue, Brooklyn Grange is perfect for you.
Photographer’s note: Rooftop greenery plus skyline views is such a beautiful combo. As for every rooftop, rain can be a bummer though - the inside is a solid option, but only at their Sunset Park location (not their Navy yard one).
4. Rule of Thirds
Rule of Thirds in Greenpoint is stylish, modern, and perfect for couples who want a design-forward restaurant wedding. The event spaces have industrial notes, bamboo walls, concrete floors, lots of plants, and beautiful natural light coming from both large windows and a skylight.
It’s a great fit for couples who love clean design, Japanese-inspired food, and a wedding that feels cool without trying too hard.
Photographer’s note: The space has a minimalist feel, which makes florals and fashion really stand out. The food is also incredible - definitely one of my favorite spots to shoot at.
5. Milk and Roses
Milk and Roses is such a sweet Greenpoint gem. It feels intimate, romantic, and a little unexpected, with a cozy indoor space and a garden that makes the whole wedding feel tucked away from the city.
This is the kind of venue where the day can feel personal and relaxed. Not too produced. Not too formal. Just good food, good wine, and everyone you love in one beautiful space.
Photographer’s note: This is perfect for couples who want soft, documentary-style photos and a wedding that feels more like a garden party than a production.
6. 74Wythe
74Wythe is made for couples who want that big Brooklyn rooftop moment. It has industrial-chic indoor spaces, unique layouts (it used to be a club - RIP Output!), and a rooftop with Manhattan views. The rooftop also has a retractable glass enclosure, which makes it a strong option for couples who want skyline views without fully gambling on the weather.
It feels stylish, energetic, and very Williamsburg.
Photographer’s note: The skyline views are obviously amazing, but I also love the indoor spaces. They give the day variety, which makes the full gallery feel richer. They also give you strong photo options in case of rain.
7. The Liberty Warehouse
The Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook is one of the most dramatic waterfront wedding venues in Brooklyn. It sits right on New York Harbor, with views of the Statue of Liberty. The venue describes itself as the only location in New York where the Statue of Liberty is face front as she looks toward France (hello, motherland!).
It’s a beautiful choice for couples who want a larger waterfront wedding with a historic, almost cinematic New York feeling.
Photographer’s note: Red Hook has such a different energy from Williamsburg or Dumbo. It feels open, industrial, and a little more off-the-beaten-path, which I love. The Liberty Warehouse is pretty big though, so I would only consider it if you have a large number of guests (150+).
8. The William Vale
The William Vale might be the best Brooklyn wedding venue for a rooftop ceremony with a skyline view. It is completely open, and definitely has a wow factor, especially if your guests are from out of town. For your reception, you can rent the space below, the Westlight bar, which is equally breathtaking with its wrap-around terrace and epic views. Bonus point if you can catch the sunset - they’re pretty magical there! You really feel like you’re on top of the world.
Photographer’s note: This is a true iconic place to get married. With the help of a good florist and designer, it can really feel like a big production. But be prepared to have a big budget: renting the rooftop alone can cost a little fortune.
9. Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Brooklyn Botanic Garden is one of those venues that feels almost unreal in the middle of New York City. You step inside and suddenly everything slows down. The glass-walled Palm House, the Desert Pavilion, the Lily Pool Terrace, the Japanese Garden — it all feels like an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
This is such a dream venue for couples who want a wedding that feels elegant, greenery-oriented, and timeless. The Palm House is beautiful for a larger celebration, while the Atrium feels a little more intimate and modern.
Photographer’s note: The light here can be incredibly cinematic, especially around golden hour. Note that the Palm house, although majestic, can feel a bit empty with less than 180-200 guests - so only consider it if you have a big wedding.
10. The Box House Hotel
The Box House Hotel in Greenpoint is a great choice if you want skyline views with the comfort of a hotel setting. The rooftop is fully retractable, which is huge in New York because weather is always part of the conversation. You still get that open-air rooftop feeling, but with a little more peace of mind. In the summer, when retracted, it gives the most perfect setting for your cocktail hour.
It has a polished, modern feel, and because it’s a hotel, it can also make the wedding weekend easier for guests.
Photographer’s note: Greenpoint has good little portrait pockets nearby. But it’s mostly industrial streets, so you have to be ok that vibe.
11. Fandi Mata
Fandi Mata is great for couples who want a wedding that feels warm, colorful, and full of life. It has an industrial-meets-Mediterranean feeling, with high ceilings, layered textures, plants, a giant disco ball, and a stylish atmosphere. The space is over 8,000 square feet with 28-foot ceilings, which gives it a dramatic but welcoming feel.
It’s a great venue for food-loving couples who care about cool, instagram-esque aesthetic.
Photographer’s note: The atmosphere here does a lot of storytelling on its own. It feels festive, textured, and very Brooklyn. If you’re not so much into the colorful / party vibe, then the place might be a bit much for you, though.
12. Celestine
Celestine is a great option for an intimate restaurant wedding in Brooklyn. Tucked under the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, it has floor-to-ceiling windows, beautiful light, and views of the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, and downtown skyline.
It’s perfect for couples who care about food, atmosphere, and a wedding that feels like a beautiful dinner with all their favorite people.
Photographer’s note: Dumbo portraits are right there. You can keep things easy and still get such iconic New York backdrops. The only thing to keep in mind is the subway goes right above the venue, and can get a bit loud, especially during your ceremony.
13. 501 Union
501 Union is peak Brooklyn wedding energy. Stylish, modern, industrial chic, and just a little bit moody in the best way. It has that beautiful mix of old Brooklyn character and polished design, with a skylight, architectural details, and a great layout.
I love 501 Union for couples who want a wedding that feels cool and elevated without feeling too formal. It works beautifully with statement florals, candlelight and dramatic tablescapes.
Photographer’s note: This is a venue where lighting matters. When done right, the reception photos can feel sophisticated and editorial. But if the ceremony is too late in the day, or backlit, it can feel a little dark as the walls of the venue are mostly black.
14. The River Café
The River Café is a Brooklyn icon. Right by the Brooklyn Bridge, it has that elegant, old-school New York feel with some of the best waterfront views in the city. Weddings take place in a glass-enclosed pavilion overlooking the skyline, which makes the whole evening feel romantic and cinematic.
This is a venue for couples who want classic New York charm, incredible views, and a more refined restaurant wedding experience.
Photographer’s note: The view does a lot, but the magic is in the small moments — a garden ceremony, the skyline reflecting on the water, and guests looking out at the city. However, this is a pretty intimate spot; so don’t plan to have more than 80/90 guests there.
15. Greenpoint Loft
Greenpoint Loft is the epitome of industrial chic. The space includes a large main loft, mezzanine, and rooftop with Manhattan skyline views over the East River. It has that raw, open, warm feeling that gives couples a lot of freedom to design the day their way.
This is a great venue for couples who want a blank canvas, but still want character. Exposed beams, wood floors, skylights, and city views — it has it all.
Photographer’s note: This venue photographs beautifully when the design is intentional. String lights, candles, flowers, and long tables can completely transform the room. As is though, it can feel a bit bare.
16. Bacchus
Bacchus is a charming French bistro in Boerum Hill, perfect for a romantic restaurant wedding. It has indoor dining spaces and an outdoor garden, which makes it feel cozy and intimate while still giving you that little bit of Brooklyn garden magic.
This is a beautiful choice for couples who want their wedding to feel like an amazing dinner party: warm, relaxed and delicious.
Photographer’s note: Restaurant weddings are great because they naturally create emotional, candid photos. People are close together, the food is flowing, and everyone actually gets to connect. The only minus point at Bacchus is if it rains - the inside is less charming than the outside.
How to Choose the Right Brooklyn Wedding Venue
When you’re choosing between Brooklyn wedding venues, think about the feeling you want your day to have.
Do you want rooftop skyline views? Look at The William Vale, 74Wythe, Brooklyn Grange, or The Box House Hotel.
Do you want something romantic and garden-forward? Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Prospect Park Boathouse and Milk and Roses are beautiful options.
Do you want a stylish restaurant wedding? Celestine, Rule of Thirds, Bacchus, and The River Café all bring atmosphere, food, and intimacy.
Do you want that industrial Brooklyn feeling? 501 Union, Wythe Hotel, Greenpoint Loft, and Fandi Mata all have that texture and edge.
The best venue is not always the most famous one. It’s the one that feels like you. The one where you can imagine your people laughing, crying, eating, dancing, and just have a good time.
Brooklyn Wedding Photographer Tips for Better Wedding Photos
As a Brooklyn wedding photographer, my biggest advice is to choose a venue that gives your day room to breathe.
Good light helps. A lot. But so does a good timeline, a little space for portraits, and a venue that naturally matches your energy. If you love candid photos, choose a space where guests can mingle easily. If portraits are important to you, think about what is nearby — waterfront, streets, gardens, rooftops, murals, brownstones, industrial corners.
Brooklyn gives you so much to work with. You don’t need to over-plan every second. Sometimes the best photos happen walking between the venue and the next location, with the city moving around you and the light hitting just right.
