Sakumi found me on Instagram and quickly became one of my biggest fans 🙂 So when she got in touch with me to schedule a maternity photoshoot in Central Park, I couldn’t wait to meet her in person. She wanted me to capture her first pregnancy with her husband Isao and I was so excited to make it happen for her. My month of September got booked with so many maternity sessions this year! New Years babies are definitely a thing haha.
Sakumi is always the first one to like and comment my photos; when I met her, no surprise she was sweet, gorgeous and even learned a few French words. That’s definitely the key to my heart! That, and Japanese pastries, which I can’t wait to try next time we get to shoot together; most likely when their little princess comes to this world in a few weeks.
For our session, we mostly walked around Bethesda Terrace and enjoyed the warm light of long summer days. We ended at Sheep Meadow where we had a few minutes of golden hour magic. Central Park is mostly known to be great for wedding photos, but it makes the perfect background for a maternity photoshoot, too.
The internet can be a dumpster fire but here and there it really lets you connect with amazing people. Sakumi and Isao are definitely some of them!
